So far, the traffic for Black Friday shopping at The Mall at Short Hills has been solid, and according to the shopping center's General Manager Michael McAvinue, more customers have visited the mall this year on Black Friday than in 2010. McAvinue noted that as of 11:15 this morning, The Mall at Short Hills was at 90 percent capacity, whereas, last year at that same time, the shopping center was at 86 percent capacity. Macy's kicked off Black Friday at The Mall at Short Hills when it opened at midnight, and according to McAvinue had decent traffic coming to the store. The mall's management staff examines the mall's on-site parking areas to see when they fill up with cars and from this analysis determines what the building's capacity is at a given time. Gut bacteria -- the type of bugs that live in the human gastrointestinal tracts -- were even found on the handles of bathroom exits, a dead giveaway that not everyone is following Mom's advice.
